Mr. Zeyar Oo

Mr. Zeyar Oo, Former Director of International Affairs of Ministry of Defence is Founder & Chairman of Bagan Vision Institute (BVI). Mr. Zeyar Oo is a resourceful scholar who has experienced various career backgrounds including Working Group Leader to ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), representing Ministry of Defence of Myanmar in last several years. Mr. Zeyar Oo used to work in Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) as a senior researcher, and advisor. He is also a Former Young Leader of Pacific Forum, and a Visiting Scholar of Fudan University. So far, he has published a handful of international papers, articles, and book chapters including his contribution to “Regional Security Outlook 2020” of Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific” with the title of “Myanmar’s National Security Challenges”, is one of his influential articles. He also authored international papers related to Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and regional geopolitics, and most of his publications are cooperated with Chinese publishers. His paper titled with “A Stronger DOC towards the Successful Completion of a Reliable COC: The ADMM in the Context of South China Sea Issue was recently published by China Foreign Affairs University. The paper is a chapter to the book, namely “Together for a Sustainable Peace of the South China Sea: The 20th Anniversary of Signing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea”, which is to commemorate the 20th anniversary of signing of “the Code of Conduct on South China Sea (DOC)”.
